JUDGE #1 -
Melissa Kelley Clark has owned the Dance Studio of Braintree for 20 years. She is also the director of her own ballet company, The Braintree Ballet Company and serves as the host to an annual student choreography competition and showcase. . Over the years Melissa has trained many dancers who have gone on to professional careers in the dance world, some as performers sharing stages with legends such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Sylvie Guillem and Gregory Hines. Some of her students have gone on to dance for Disney and made long term careers working with the Disney Company.
A few have graced the stages of Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Utah dancing with companies such as Paris By Night, Odyssey Dance Company and Brockus Project Dance Company. Some of her students have become dance educators and teach all over New England. Her students have also used their dance background to help them break into modeling, acting and singing careers. Melissa’s dancers have won several national awards and recognition for their ballet training and Melissa has been awarded many times for her choreography and noted for her love of education. Melissa designs and makes most of the costumes and professional tutus for her company and has won numerous awards for her designs. Her most loved project is her annual Nutcracker Ballet production and designing new costumes and setting new choreography for the show each year. Melissa has staged everything from classical ballets, and musicals to photo shoots, and audition settings. Besides dance, Melissa is also a photographer, shooting dance photography and providing local artist with the portfolios they need to break into the worlds of dance, singing, acting and modeling.
JUude #2 Studio Director, Principal Choreographer Michelle Hayes
Michelle, as Studio Director, writes and directs the curriculum for all classes at all levels, and oversees the progress of all Dance Carousel students. She received training at the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts and is a member of Dance Masters of America, Past President, Past Vice-President and Past Secretary of the Greater Brockton Dance Teachers' Association, and current co-Chairwoman of the Dance Education Training Course of the Dance Teachers' Club of Boston,
where, for ten years, she has played a key role in training hundreds of future dance educators throughout New England; in addition, she serves on the DTCB Board of Directors. Michelle is also Dance Carousel's esteemed Principal Choreographer, winning innumerable awards and accolades regionally and nationally for her highly imaginative, entertaining work -- including a staggering seven Outstanding Choreography citations at the 2008 StarQuest World Finals in Long Beach, California, and many American Dance Awards Diamond Choreography Awards; as well as choreographing independently for a variety of theatre and athletic organizations; and taking on her new role as the Scituate High School Varsity Football & Basketball Cheerleading Coach. Michelle has received the Carol Miller Award, for upholding the highest standards of Choreography and Teaching, and the Destination Broadway Award, presented by acclaimed Broadway musical director Michael Rafter, for outstanding efforts to develop young talent.
Judge # 3 Darcy Ledwell-Kennedy
Darcy graduated from Plymouth State University with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and Dance and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Lesley University. Darcy currently owns and operates The Magical Years Early Learning Centers, Inc. where she has created a well known preschool/childcare program and curriculum for children ages 3 months-8 years.
Darcy currently teaches dance classes to children of all ages along side her mother Debra Ledwell (Owner/Director) at A Dancers’ World Studio of Dance Education. Darcy’s devotion to education and passion for dance allows for her to instill a love of both in all the children and teachers she works with.
Darcy has choreographed numerous award winning routines and finds great joy in bringing her dancers to workshops and providing them with ample performance opportunities. She has served as an adjudicator for college dance teams and local pageants in New Hampshire.
Darcy is a member of The Dance Teachers’ Club of Brocton and Greater Brockton Dance Teacher Association where she currently serves as the clubs Scholarship Chairperson.
Darcy currently resides in Plympton with her husband and two children Sean Jr. and Violet.
Judge # 4 Nicole Zapolski
Judge #5 Mia Twieraga
Mia lives in America’s hometown Plymouth, Massachusetts. This is her fourth year judging the Crowns for a Cure Pageant. Mia made a run for the Miss Massachusetts USA crown in 2010. Two years later she won Miss Congeniality 2012, when judges from the Princess America Pageant noticed her warm personality. Mia attends Quincy College full time and is in the Business transfer program.
She currently is learning Italian to study international business abroad. Mia served two semesters on the Student Senate when she realized she was well suited for serving on welcoming committees. Her job included advocating and being the voice of the student body. She raised money for student scholarships through fundraising and volunteering nights at a coffee stand. She took part in the Macroeconomics club and the PR Committee. When Mia is not in school, she works at The Blue Eyed Crab, a Caribbean rum bar on Plymouth waterfront. Her favorite dish is the Lobster and Lump Crab Creole.
JUDGE # 6 Elizabeth Percy is an American actress. She is trained in stage acting, dance, TV, film and vocal performance. Elizabeth is also an activist who works with kids and maintains a website for young artists of any background to use their work to fight against bullying. Elizabeth can most recently be seen on "The Following" with Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, and working alongside recording new music with radio Disney talent Tyler Lane.
Judge #7 Miss Rodeo Maine 2012 Michelle Morris is the 20 year old daughter of Juile Anderson and the late Minor Morris. Michelle lives in Litchfield Maine with her mother and many animals. She attends Thomas College and is a Junior, she studies a double major of Political science and business management. Michelle is very excited to start her year as Miss Rodeo Maine to educate both youth and adults about Americas original sport: RODEO
Judge #8 Jaclyn Trapp is the current Miss Rodeo Massachusetts.
She calls Barnstable, Massachusetts her home. She is currently a Junior at the University of New Hampshire where she is studying Equine Management. Jackie is a member of the Sigma Alpha, which is a professional agricultural sorority. She also competes on the lumberjack team at UNH. She competes at collegiate lumberjack events and, in the Stihl Timbersport competition at the college level. Before College she was involved with the Saddle Up program through 4-H for many yrs. This 4-H drill team evolved into the Barnstable Barn Burners drill team.
The Barnstable Barn Burners now performs for the American Cowboy Foundation, which raises money for pediatric cancer research. Jackie will travel through out New England and the US promoting the sport of Professional Rodeo.
Jackie is excited to act as a role model for other young women and youth as she pursues the title of Miss Rodeo America.
She will represent Massachusetts at the 2013 Miss Rodeo America Pageant in Las Vegas this December.
Judge Ariel LaFreniereis
Ariel started competing In Pageants in 2005 she is 14 and a freshman at Chicopee High school this year in Massachusetts. Over the years Ariel has won 8 state titles and 2 national titles and has traveled the country multiple times for pageants and modeling. Ariel is a member of the national junior honor society as well as an honor roll student. Ariel currently is on the junior varsity and varsity team for soccer and this season is competing in indoor track and indoor soccer. When Ariel is not in school she is an active volunteer at her local soup kitchen and Animal shelters in Chicopee donating her time for others in need. Ariel's current pageant title is Miss Fashion Boston 2013 and will be crowning her successor in April this year.
